Northern Hills Country Club, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in San Antonio, Texas.
The course opened for play in 1969. The course was designed by Joseph Beleau.
Originally a private club, Northern Hills Country Club is now open to the public as a semi-private facility. The course's small greens are undulating and multi-tiered, and the fairways are tree lined and plush. There are two severe dogleg fairways, both of which are par 5's. Water hazards come into play on a minimum of four holes.
One of the signature holes at Northern Hills is #12 where a pond divides the hole making club selection off the tee of the utmost importance.

This used to be a private course in the 1970s. The city took it over in August of 2015 and bought all new equipment to bring it up to Alamo Golf Trail standards. Very good course by muni standards.

Despite the current drought conditions, greens are in excellent shape. Fairways are a little dry and grass is thin but what can you expect with no rain for 3 months.

Northen Hills is a San Antonio municipal course. It represents good value for the price.

Municipal course near SA Int'l Airport. Gets little afternoon play during summer. Played as a single on weekday and NEVER waited. Played from men's tees and finished in 2:45, including going back and replaying a hole! COurse not terribly challenged but in good shape, particularly after 6 months plus without rain! Great place for a mid handicapper to slip away late in the afternoon.

Day 33 - 100 days, 100 courses (Monday, April 15, 2019)
Golf is a funny game. In the morning I learn that my handicap has gone up 2 strokes in the afternoon I shoot my best round of the tour.
Northern Hills is part of the Alamo City Golf Trail. Eight courses in all. They were doing some maintenance; sanding greens and replacing the sprinting system on one hole. Heck, everyone has to do maintenance. At Northern Hills, they discounted the greens fees to compensate for the minor maintenance inconvenience which was totally fair.
